Grace Has A Thrilling Sound CW #381 Verses 1-5 Text: Philip Doddridge, 1702-51 (st. 1, 3, 5) Augustus M. Toplady, 1740-78 (st. 2, 4) Setting: ENERGY Tune: William H. Monk, 1823-89

Verse 1: Grace has a thrilling sound To each believer's ear; That peace with God through Christ is found Is news I gladly hear.

Verse 2: Grace first inscribed my name In God's eternal book, And grace has brought me to the Lamb, Who all my sorrows took.

Verse 3: Grace led my wand'ring feet To tread the heav'nly road, And grace supplies each hour I meet While pressing on to God.

Verse 4: Grace taught my soul to pray And made my eyes o'erflow; His grace has kept me to this day And will not let me go.

Verse 5: Grace all our work shall crown Through everlasting days; The heav'nly home God gives his own Shall echo with our praise.

Pastor: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. All: And also with you. Invocation

Confession of Sin Pastor: Our Savior Jesus Christ commanded baptism when he said; Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. All of us are born into this world with a deep need for baptism.

Confession of Sin Pastor: From our parents we inherit a sinful nature; we are without true fear of God and true faith in God and are condemned to eternal death. But Jesus took away our sin by giving his life on the cross. At our baptism he clothes us with the robe of his righteousness and gives us a new life.

Confession of Sin Pastor: Our sinful nature need not control us any longer. We recall what baptism means for our daily lives as we speak these words:

Confession of Sin All: Baptism mean that the sinful nature in us should be drowned by daily sorrow and repentance, and that all its evil deeds and desires be put to death.

Confession of Sin All: It also means that a new person should daily arise to live before God in righteousness and purity forever.

Confession of Sin Pastor: As baptized children of God we confess our sins:

Confession of Sin All: Holy and merciful Father, I confess that I am by nature sinful, and that I have disobeyed you in my thoughts, words, and actions. I have done what is evil and failed to do what is good. For this I deserve your punishment both now and in eternity.

Confession of Sin All: But I am truly sorry for my sins, and trusting in my Savior Jesus Christ, I pray: Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

(Pastor announces our forgiveness) All: Amen.

Sacrament of Baptism Pastor: In obedience to the command of our Lord and trusting in his promise, you have brought this child to be baptized. Jesus told us: Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Sacrament of Baptism Pastor: It is in baptism that God grants the new life of forgiveness, joy, and peace to little children. By the power of Gods Word, this gracious water of life washes away sin, delivers from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who believe.

Sacrament of Baptism Pastor: Receive the sign of the cross on the head and heart to mark you as a redeemed child of Christ.

Pastor: Brothers and sisters in Christ: Our Lord commands that we teach his precious truths to all who are baptized. Christian love therefore urges all of us, especially parents, to assist in whatever manner possible so that this child may remain a child of God until death. Exhortation

Pastor: If you are willing to carry out this responsibility, then answer: Yes, as God gives me strength. All: Yes, as God gives me strength. Exhortation

Pastor: Let us pray: (Pastor says prayer) All: Amen.

Prayer of the Day Pastor: Let us pray. (Pastor says the prayer of the day) All: Amen.

Childrens Message

Salvation Unto Us Has Come CW #390 Verses 1 - 4 Text: Paul Speratus, 1484-1551 Setting: ES IST DAS HEIL Tune: Etlich Cristlich lider, Wittenberg, 1524, alt.

Verse 1: Salvation unto us has come By God's free grace and favor. Good works cannot avert our doom; They help and save us never. Faith looks to Jesus Christ alone, Who did for all the world atone; He is the one Redeemer.

Verse 2: What God does in his law demand And none to him can render Brings wrath and woe on ev'ry hand For man, the vile offender. Our flesh has not those pure desires The spirit of the law requires, And lost is our condition.

Verse 3: It is a false, misleading dream That God his law has given That sinners can themselves redeem And by their works gain heaven. The law is but a mirror bright To bring the inbred sin to light That lurks within our nature.

Verse 4: Yet as the law must be fulfilled Or we must die despairing, Christ came and has God's anger stilled, Our human nature sharing. He has for us the law obeyed And thus the Father's vengeance stayed Which over us impended.

Gods Word to His People Philippians 1:18b-27 Gods way is grace in life and in death

Til Death Do Us Part 1. In Christ we live for each other 2. Through Christ we live forever

Salvation Unto Us Has Come CW #390 Verses 5 - 6 Text: Paul Speratus, 1484-1551 Setting: ES IST DAS HEIL Tune: Etlich Cristlich lider, Wittenberg, 1524, alt.

Verse 5: Since Christ has full atonement made And brought to us salvation, Each Christian therefore may be glad And build on this foundation. Your grace alone, dear Lord, I plead; Your death is now my life indeed, For you have paid my ransom.

Verse 6: All blessing, honor, thanks, and praise To Father, Son, and Spirit, The God who saved us by his grace All glory to his merit! O Triune God in heav'n above, You have revealed your saving love; Your blessed name be hallowed!

In thankfulness for our salvation, we support Gods work with our offerings.

Prayer of the Church

Lords Prayer All: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Lords Prayer All: Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Lords Prayer All: For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen

Pastor: Lord God, all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works come from you. Give to us, your servants, that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments. Defend us also from the fear of our enemies that we may live in peace and quietness, through the merits of Jesus Christ our Savior, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen Prayer For Peace

Pastor: Let us praise the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Prayer For Peace

Gods Blessing Pastor: May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. All: Amen.
