Requires investigation and planning Select a committee Background in informatics a plus but not a requirement Create a plan Identify and prioritize objectives that need to be met with the EHR Documentation Critical thinking and decision making Learning management Identify criteria based on established objectives Establish timeline for review and selection process Identify potential vendors Arrange for vendor demonstration Prepare questions to ask during the demonstration Evaluate and make selection

Create a roll out plan Recommend avoiding the big bang approach Identify initial placement in the curriculum Simulation Skills lab Support lecture Data hunt Develop plan for integration throughout the curriculum Be realistic – the EHR doesnt have to be in every course Starting point may be determined by faculty champions
