INTRODUCING OUR AWARD WINING Authoritative US Topos and GeoChange Maps Developed by The W. E. Upjohn Center for the Study of Geographical Change Western Michigan University and honored by The International Map Industry Association (IMIA): Best Digital Map Product - Gold Award: Authoritative US Topo & GeoChange Maps Overall Americas All-Category Winner: Authoritative US Topo & GeoChange Maps Presented at the IMIA (Americas) Map Conference on September 10, 2013, held in Cambridge, Mass.

What are Authoritative US Topos and GeoChange Maps?  Authoritative US Topos digital maps are produced from scans of the entire database of US topographic maps.  Digitized maps are geo-referenced and processed for color consistency.  Authoritative US Topos are the basis of our GeoChange map product, paired with recent NAIP aerial photography, and producing a stand alone reference.

What makes our product unique?  Authoritative US Topos and GeoChange maps are produced using our unique digitization process designed to produce GIS data from conventional maps.  All quads (the same paper maps used in the production of DRGs) are scanned in high resolution at 500 dpi then processed to 250 dpi without losing digital quality.  Our 1:24,000 scale digital topos line up impeccably with 1:12,000 scale imagery, largely due to USGS field surveying and quality standards

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo Authoritative US Topos show sharp, clear definition of text and features.

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo Authoritative US Topos maintain clear and distinct contour line detail.

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo High resolution Authoritative US Topos maintain distinction in features. Here the individual symbols for a vineyard are clearly visible.

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo With Authoritative US Topos, features such as rivers, Streams, and rapids are more clearly defined

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo Authoritative US Topos provide clear, consistent, and well defined contours.

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo Authoritative US Topos ensure contour lines remain separate and distinct and are visible across borders.

What are some of the ways our Authoritative Topos differ from USGS DRGs? DRG Authoritative Topo Authoritative US Topos provide consistent color and definition with no fading.

How do we produce our GeoChange Maps? Authoritative US Topos are paired with aerial photography to produce GeoChange composites, which allow map features to be read over imagery.
