2 Questions to think about… How would you describe your daily life? How do lifestyles between rich and poor social classes differ? How might ancient civilizations differ from us? How did ancient people deal with social class differences?

3 Roman Lifestyles: Rich: Lived in villas Extravagant lives Had feasts everyday Wore beautiful clothing and gold jewelry

4 Roman Lifestyles Continued: Poor: Jobless Lived in apartments with no running water, toilets, or kitchen Apartment buildings often burned down and were fatal for the families Had simple diets of mainly bread Wore torn and tattered clothing

5 How did Rome try to keep everyone happy? Keep the citizens busy Free entertainment Allow both the rich and poor to be involved

7 Evaluate the Policy: Analyzing the policy enacted to deal with the social problems between the rich and poor of Rome. Did providing free entertainment help solve the social problems between Romans?

8 Think about the following questions: PPA Step 4 PPA Step 4 1. How well did the policy address the problem? 2. Did the policy succeed in eliminating the cause? 3. Did the policy create more problems? 4. What provisions would you suggest for the policy?

9 Activity: Follow the steps below to complete your assignment. You will be assigned one of the questions from the previous page to answer with a group. Your group will write a short reflection based off of your knowledge of Roman lifestyles and your opinion of the policy. Your group must agree towards a position in your reflection and explain it in detail. After listening to each others reflections you will complete the following worksheet on your own.
