3. 3 Close Up Program Curriculum Close Up’s programs are designed to enrich students’ knowledge of the basic concepts and structure of American Constitutional government and to understand the history that led to the formation of the U.S. political system. Students will learn: Communication, collaboration and leadership skills; A greater understanding of the rights and responsibilities of citizens in a participatory democracy; The skills necessary to take on those responsibilities; and The people and events that have shaped the American understanding of the role of a citizen.
