10 In 2007 Steve Jobs announced the release of the iPhone Since then over 50,000 apps have been developed for the iPhone

11 Now this is how citizens of the twenty-first century access information.

12 How do we meet our students where they are and guide them toward a future we cannot predict?

13 Through the 3 “R’s” and the 7 “C’s” Relationships Rigor Relevance Communication Collaboration Cents Citizenship Civility Creativity Critical Thinking

14 Three Rs for the Twenty-First Century Relationships o the foundation of education o Students will not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Rigor o we must challenge our students to think critically and creatively Relevance o to engage our kids we must connect with them by keepin' it real

15 Critical Thinking at PCES Analyze and evaluate information and ideas to determine appropriate actions or develop a point of view

16 Creativity at PCES Generate original ideas, unique solutions, or new associations of existing ideas for an aesthetic or practical purpose.

17 Collaboration at PCES Interact with diverse groups to achieve an objective while displaying flexibility and willingness to understand alternative points of view.

18 Communication at PCES Articulate ideas and information clearly and appropriately for the given context, medium, and audience. These students are producing the morning show for PCES
