What effect does sleep deprivation have on memory and math skills?
Have you ever been to a sleepover? They can be great. The only down side is that after you feel drained and unable to think. You have enough energy to do a few things, but after a while, you crash. I want to know if it really does effect my thinking and memory skills.
I think that their memory will get slower, and that math skills will take more tries and time to do.
5 Jr. High girls 2 six character math problems 1 deck of cards
1.Gather all materials. 2.Give each girl the same math problem to solve. 3.Record how long it takes them to get it right. 4.Take out the deck of cards. Choose 5 random cards. 5.Show them to each girl. 6.Have them repeat the cards back to you after 5 sec. of studying the cards. 7.Record how many cards they can remember. 8.Have the girls stay awake until midnight. 9.Test each girl again. 10.Record all of the data.
The average time for the control math problem test was 11.2 seconds. The average time for the math problem at midnight was 16.8 seconds. The time of day didnt effect memory at all! Everyone got all 5 cards right every time.
I noticed that everyone seemed disoriented. They also seemed to have to think harder at midnight.
