3 Shelby County Comprehensive Plan Working Group Goal: To update the Shelby County Comprehensive Plan Phase One: Identify key issues affecting Shelby County (expected completion date = middle of September) Phase Two: Propose options for responding to the issues (expected completion date = end of October) Phase Three: Present a final draft of a Comprehensive Plan for review by the Shelby County Board (expected completion date = middle of December)

24 Keep Recreation Money in the County Actively promote the County through websites, brochures, and events Direct visitors to recreational areas, restaurants, and attractions with signs Hand out coupon books at camp grounds and other accommodations to encourage visitors to get out into the County

25 Target Residential Growth Boomerang segment: people who are from here might want to come back Lake Visitors: long term visitors might choose to relocate here DiME residents: might want to live or retire in the county

26 Protect agricultural land by encouraging good land and building design Minimize the amount of residential development in agricultural areas Encourage flood control, stormwater runoff and soil conservation efforts Sustain Agricultural Production
