3 Greatest possible error Whenever you are measuring something, human error is involved and no measurement is ever exact. You must always measure to a nearest unit. The greatest possible error is one-half of the unit to which you are measuring. If you are measuring to the nearest millimeter, the greatest possible error is half a millimeter or 0.5 mm. So if you measured something as 5 mm, the greatest possible error is 0.5 mm. What this means is that the actually length is 4.5 – 5.5 mm.

4 Finding minimum & maximum areas When finding area, you need two measurements, length and width, so the greatest possible error is even more! To find the minimum & maximum areas: 1.Find the minimum length & width 2.Find the maximum length & width length* width= area minimum maximum
