5 April 2009 Committed to Connecting the World 5  Convergence is one of the most important forces driving ICT markets  It is changing the way services are delivered, charged for & accessed  ITU is considering implications for delivery of essential social services:  e-health, e-banking, e-education, e-government, capacity-building Section 2

6 April 2009 Committed to Connecting the World 6  NGNs will have wide-ranging implications for end-users, regulators & operators  NGNs may play an important role in bridging the digital divide  Potential challenges include:  Need for new investment, interoperability, security, spectrum allocation etc. Section 3
