What Is Organizational Structure?
Businesses exist to earn profits. To meet their goals, they organize their employees into some kind of structure.

Line Structure With a line organizational structure, authority originates at the top and moves downward.

Line and Staff Structure
With line and staff organizational structure, line managers are assisted by employees performing staff functions.

Matrix Structure A matrix organizational structure allows employees from different departments to come together temporarily to work on special project teams. Fig 2-1

Team Structure A team organizational structure brings together people with different skills in order to meet a particular objective.

Flat vs. Tall Structure A flat structure has fewer levels with broader spans of management. A tall structure has more levels with narrower spans of management.
