1. Jonah and the Big Fish

2. Jonah was a prophet of God.
God asked Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh to tell the people to stop doing bad things.

3. But Jonah ran away and got on a boat taking him away from Nineveh.
This made God angry and he sent a big storm. All the people on the boat were frightened.

4. Jonah told the people to throw him into the sea
Jonah told the people to throw him into the sea. Jonah was sure that God would then calm the waters.

5. So the people threw Jonah into the stormy sea.
The sea instantly became calm.

6. Just then a big fish came along.
The big fish swallowed Jonah in one big gulp!

7. Jonah was inside the fish for three days and nights.
He prayed to God for forgiveness.

8. God could see that Jonah was sorry.
God told the fish to put Jonah on dry land. Then God told Jonah to go back to Nineveh.

9. This time Jonah did as God had asked.
The people of Nineveh were sorry they had done bad things so God forgave them.
