6 “The Commission will review the progress made towards achieving Strategy’s objectives in 2010 with a particular focus on:  Waste prevention policies  Applying the LCA thinking to waste management – including biowaste  Towards a European recycling society “If necessary, identify additional measures needed to promote” strategy main objectives Objective: Communication before the end of the year Review Clause

7 Review supported by a study focusing on:  Collection of data on progress achieved  Evaluation of possible additional actions if needed 5 main topics to be analysed:  What are the trends and developments in Waste area? including extrapolations of waste generation and management  How main concepts were diffused? Life-cycle thinking, Waste hierarchy…  Did we reach our objectives? Prevention, recycling, reducing environmental impacts, modernisation, better implementation…  Are we really moving towards a recycling Society?  What are the international impacts of EU waste policies? Consultation of experts and stakeholders Review – Method
