1 A reading from Mark 15:33-38 Today is a service focused on the Communion. The layout of the service will be slightly different than normal. 33 And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means,“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” 35 And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.” 36 And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” 37 And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. 38 And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. 38 1. I traveled down a lonely road And no one seemed to care, The burden on my weary back Had bowed me to despair, I oft complained to Jesus How folks were treating me, And then I heard Him say so tenderly, "My feet were also weary, Up-on the Calvary road; The cross became so heavy, I fell beneath the load, Be faithful weary pilgrim The morning I can see, Just lift your cross and follow close to me." 42 2. "I work so hard for Jesus“ I often boast and say, "I've sacrificed a lot of things To walk the narrow way, I gave up fame and fortune; I'm worth a lot to Thee," And then I hear Him gently say to me, "I left the throne of glory And counted it but loss, My hands were nailed in anger Upon a cruel cross, But now we'll make the journey With your hand safe in mine, So lift your cross and follow close to me." 2 – Follow Me © 2001 The Paperless Hymnal™ Words and Music by: Ira F. 46 3. Oh, Jesus if I die upon A foreign field someday, 'Twould be no more than love demands No less could I re-pay, "No greater love hath mortal man Than for a friend to die" These are the words He gently spoke to me, "If just a cup of water I place with-in your hand Then just a cup of water Is all that I demand," But if by death to living They can thy glory see, I'll take my cross and follow close to thee. 3 – Follow Me © 2001 The Paperless Hymnal™ Words and Music by: Ira F.
