2.  promote breastfeeding and overcome problems that may discourage breastfeeding  Why: breast feeding is unequalled way of infant feeding. Forms unique biological and emotional basis for the health of mother and child.  When child is introduced to formula/other foods, they suckle less thus less breast milk production. Demand = supply  Babies struggle to digest formula. Not perfect food for baby, hurts the gut.  Easy for HIV virus to pass through gut than for EBF baby.
