2 Professor Bob White researches the dynamic nature of the earth’s crust, and particularly, how  volcanic rock is produced when continents and oceans rift apart;  these geological processes affect climate;  natural disasters and climate change affect people;  we should respond to such processes, and live sustainably. He has been Professor of Geophysics since 1989, a Fellow of the Royal Society since 1994, a Council member of the Geological Society of London and Associate-Director of the Faraday Institute since 2006.
