Mode  The mode is the value that is repeated most often in the data set.  If we want to find mode for ungrouped data then simply find the value which comes most of times.  That is a mode for our data set. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Calculate mode for ungrouped data Delivery trips per day in one 0- days periods. Trips arrived in Ascending order 025715 025715 mode 146815 1461219 BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Calculate mode for grouped data.  First we have to select model class from our distribution.  For that Select the class with the most observations, which we call the model class. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Mode  M 0 = L M0 + d1 w d1+d2 Where L M0 = lower limit of the model class. d1= frequency of the model class minus the frequency of the class directly above it. d2= frequency of the model class minus the frequency of the class directly below it. w= width of the model class interval. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Calculate mode for grouped data. Average Monthly salary of 600 customers of a particular bank. Class (Dollars)Frequency 0 – 49.9978 50.00 – 99.99123 100.00 – 149.99187  model class 150.00 – 199.9982 200.00 – 249.9951 250.00 – 299.9947 300.00 – 349.0013 350.00 – 399.999 400.00 – 449.006 450.00 – 499.004 Total customers 600 BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Answer  We have values for  Model class is 100.00 – 149.99 (Maximum items from that class) L M0 = $100(lower limit of the model class.) d1 =187-123 = 64 ( frequency of the model class minus the frequency of the class directly above it.) d2 =187- 82 = 105 ( frequency of the model class minus the frequency of the class directly below it.) w=$50 (width of the model class interval.) BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

 M 0 = L M0 + d1 w d1+d2 = 100 + (64/64+105) x 50 = 100 + (0.38)(50) = 100 + 19 = 119  mode Our answer of $119 is the estimated of the mode. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Advantages  Mode can be calculated for descriptive type of data also same as mean.  Mode is not affected by extreme values.  We can use it even one or more of the classes are open ended. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav

Disadvantages  There are a possibility that, There is no modal value because the dataset contains no values that occur more than once. when dataset contains two, three or many mode they are difficult to interpret and compare. BIC Prepaid By:Rajyagor Bhargav
