1 STEP IT UP! This is a school wide initiative. Every student participates. The students are encouraged to be active as much as possible when they are home. They earn plastic feet for every 150 minutes of activity. They attach the multi- colored feet ( provided by the school ) on their necklace chain ( also provided by the school). Parents help complete the tally sheet at home. For every 450 minutes of activity, the student hangs a personalized footprint in the gym for all to see. The whole school can watch as the wall of fame builds. The principal, PE teacher and classroom teacher help encourage the students throughout the program. If a childs family does not assist with this program, the teachers can help the child earn the tokens at school.

2 Step It Up ! Sample chart and tokens!

3 Sample Note For Parents STEP IT Up For Fitness at School Name! Step It Up for Fitness is anew program we are starting here at school. Students are encourage to run, walk, or ride their bike while at home with their parents/caretakers. Students will earn a plastic foot token for every 5 miles they complete. Chains and foot tokens will be distributed by your childs teacher. After completing 15 miles (filling in an entire foot chart=15 footprints), students will place a personalized footprint on the gym wall. Each week, students can view the progress of the school by all the footprints on the wall. We encourage students to run, walk, or ride their bike for 30 minutes each day. This equates to approximately 1 mile = 1 foot on the chart. After every 30 minutes of activity, parents sign a foot on the chart. Mondays are the designated days to bring in the foot chart. Teachers will distribute earned tokens to students. If students have not completed 5 feet, they can wait to the following Monday to bring in their foot chart. Students can receive a new chart at anytime from their teacher once a previous chart has been completed and turned in. Our P.E. teacher name will also provide opportunities for students to earn tokens during P.E. times. The program begins date and ends on date. Parents, enjoy Stepping It Up with your child! Its FUN!
