3. 3 The Health Sciences Center Library (HSCL) is the main source of health information for the faculties of Medicine, Allied Health, Dentistry and Pharmacy. Each section is highly dedicated in providing our faculties with the up most professional services and with the latest medical information.

5. 5 HSC Students need the following to obtain library membership:  Copy of University ID.  Copy of Civil ID & two Photographs.  Complete a membership form. The membership procedure is being done in the : Circulation Department (New building – 1st floor).

6. 6 HSCL is located in the new building and is sectioned on three floors. First Floor: Circulation Section: ( قسم الكتب والإعارة Books are available in this section, HSC Students are allowed to borrow 5 books for two weeks and one reserve book for two hours. The Circulation Desk: is the central point for circulating books.

7. 7 Reserve Collection: contains materials recommended by doctors for students. Overdue Fines: Users who do not return/renew books on or before the due-date must pay fine.

8. 8 Second Floor: Reference Section: ( قسم الدوريات ) The Reference Desk: Is the central point for providing users with general reference services. The Reference Collection: ( المراجع ) Includes: encyclopedias, dictionaries, manuals, guides, etc.. Journal Collections: ( الدوريات ) Are available from 2000 onwards.

9. 9 Literature search: ( البحث الآلي ) Assistance with accessing on-line databases and electronic resources is provided. Audio-visual material: ( الوسائل السمعية والبصرية ) Materials such as audio cassettes, video cassettes, Compact Discs, DVD’s and Software are provided. Inter library loan Section: ( الإعارة التعاونية ) Assists users in obtaining materials that are not part of the HSCL collection from regional libraries in the Gulf, the British library and the Canadian Library. 11. 11 HSCL has a significant amount of resources which include: Library Catalog, Journals, Digital Collection and Databases. Library Catalog: ( فهرس المكتبة ) Provides information about books, journals, audiovisual materials and eBooks of HSCL collection. The on-line library catalog can be used to search for the availability and location of an item in the library. Library Catalog also allows you to view your account in the library and you may place hold requests for an item. Manual Card Catalog is available, which is located in Circulation. 12. 12  How do I find books and journals at the HSC Library?  Use the Library Catalog to find books and journals

13. 13 Journals: ( الدوريات ) Journals can be found in the reference room or accessed on-line on the HSCL homepage. To access full text journals list online go to Periodicals and click on Journals A-Z. Resources that are not available in the HSC library may be requested from the Inter Library Loan section. Digital Collection: ( المجموعات الرقمية ) HSCL’s homepage is rich with digital collection which is comprised of eBooks, Audios, CD’s, Videos and Arabic collection.
