12. ULTIMATUM from the South: Lincoln Must Choose: Send People to help Ft. Sumter & be responsible for the start of the war OR Do nothing & let soldiers die JD Must Choose: Do nothing & he (and his new country) are weak OR Attack Ft. Sumter and start the war, might lose states Gen. Anderson (union) Must Choose: Obey orders from Lincoln, get attacked, lose men OR Accept the offer to leave peacefully and save the lives of 75 men Says STAY & SENDS FOOD! “ You have until 4:30 am tomorrow to get UNION troops out of FT. SUMTER or we open fire!”
