Contoso’s Network 8

Contoso’s Requirements All users must be enabled for Instant Messaging (IM), Conferencing and Enterprise Voice –All users have remote access and federation –25% of users connect remotely All data center components must be highly available –Chicago and Munich are the current data centers All sites require a failover location Exchange Server 2010 SP1 including UM is deployed in Chicago and Munich OCS 2007 or OCS 2007 R2 is NOT deployed 9

Contoso’s Requirements The user’s SIP Address must be the same as their SMTP email address Dial-in conferencing will have high usage in the USA Users must be able to make and receive phone calls when the WAN is unavailable Audio and video control is required on all WAN links Monitoring and call details must be available The solution must be managed by IT teams in Chicago and Munich All gateways and SIP Trunking providers must support Media Bypass 10

Active Directory and SMTP Namespace Single AD DS Forest –Root: corp.contoso.net –Child: europe.corp.contoso.net –Child: northamerica.corp.contoso.net AD DS Forest and Domain Functional Levels: –Windows Server 2003 Current SMTP Namespace –contoso.com –contoso.de Each DNS namespace has “split-brain” DNS 11

Network Services Each site has at least 1 Domain Controller (configured as a Global Catalog) Each site has a Windows Server Hyper-V™ –3 Virtual Guests Windows Server DHCP Systems Centre Configuration Manager Windows File Server –More than 16GB RAM and 4 cores available for additional hosts if required An Active Directory Certificate Authority is deployed and trusted by all client systems 12

Constraints Business Productivity Online Services (BPOS) will not be considered for this fictitious scenario It is not possible to increase network capacity 13
