3 Childhood/Family  Dr. Seuss got his name from his mother. Her maiden name was Seuss. His middle name was Seuss also. Dr. Seuss’ mother often chanted rhymes to him at bedtime. 5 What are Dr. Seuss’ accomplishments and contributions?  Dr. Seuss is famous for writing rhyming books like the famous stories The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and Hop on Pop. 6 When did Dr. Seuss die?  Dr. Seuss died on Sept. 24, 1991. He lived to be 87 years old. Dr. Seuss had jaw cancer and died in bed while he was sleeping.
