2. Major characters  Jemmy is an 8 year old boy. He is the only brother of the 3 children.  Meg is 5 years old. She is the youngest sister  Amanda is the oldest girl. She is the main character. She is the one that is most determined and helps her siblings get to America.  Dr. Crider he was the one that took the children on boat to America but died overboard.

4. The plot line  The wife and children of James Freebold are in England when he leaves for America. He leaves them with a lion’s head doorknob front their old house to guard them. Mrs. Freebold dies after he leaves so Amanda the oldest child is left to take care or her brother and sister. Amanda is able, with the help of Dr. Crider get them on a ship to America. Dr. Crider falls overboard and the ship is shipwrecked. It is up to Amanda to take care

5. Plot line continued  They are able to get to Bermuda where they make ships to get to Jamestown. All the time the lion’s head was missing and then before they left Bermuda, they found the door knob. Amanda, Jimmy and May finally get to America and find their dad and hang the knocker on their house.

6. Summary  The book is about how if you never give up you will be able to get what you want. Amanda never gives up and is determined to find her dad and he does. She thinks the lion’s head helps them but it is really her that gets them to America. I admire Amanda and what she went through and how strong she is.

7. The theme of my book  The theme is about how even if things seem impossible they are not. If you try as hard as you can, you can make good things happen. Amanda is determined to make sure she gets her brother and sister to America and their dad and she does.
