Coordinate Plane I will find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.

Coordinate Grid Y Find (2,-4) Y axis X axis

Choose the room that will best support your learning! Main Room Still Stuck Real World Study Island Micaiah G. Damien M. Cora K. Matthew D. Shane G. Ryan G. Courtney C. Steven B. Dakota A. Wes. G. BreeAnna L. Matthew S. James D. AaricBradley H. Jeremy C. Teresa J. Nick K. Sean S. Matthew P. Johnathan M. Isabella S. If your name is not on this list you need to go to study island and complete 10 questions on Ratios.

Coordinate Grid Practice Plot the following points:

Coordinate Grid Practice What are the coordinates of the following points?:

Coordinate Grid Practice State whether the point is on the x-axis or the y-axis. If the point is not on an axis, state which quadrant it is in.

Real World Go to this website and watch the video about geocaching. Where would you create a geocaching site? Use this website to zoom in on a location you could use as a geocaching site. Create a rectangle using 4 different sites (listed by GPS coordinates) near your home. Label only 3 of the points and leave the forth incomplete so that the others can determine it from the first 3.

Still Stuck? Read through the “lesson” on study island. Come back and practice on the next slides.

Step by Step Practice How are the locations of (1, 3) and (1, -3) related? First plot both points. Using math terms describe their relationship. They are reflections across the x-axis.

Step by Step Practice-Check Yourself How are the locations of (-4, 2) and (4, 2) related? They are reflections across the y-axis.

Step by Step Practice Plot the point. Or remember that positive x and negative y is quadrant 4. What quadrant contains (4, -2)?

Step by Step Practice-Check Yourself What quadrant is (5, 3) located in? Quadrant 1

Step by Step Practice Point is 4 places to the left so (- 4, It is also 1 place up so, 1) (-4, 1)

Step by Step Practice-Check Yourself (2, 1)

Step by Step Practice What is the distance between the points (-5, -5) and (-1, -5)? Plot the points and count the spaces between the two points. The distance is 4.

Step by Step Practice-Check Yourself What is the distance between the points (2, 4) and (2, -5)? The distance is 9.

Study Island Topic: Coordinate Planes Log in to Study Island and earn your blue ribbon for “ Coordinate Planes ”

OLS Lesson Fundamentals of Geometry and Algebra – Unit 10 Lesson 2 Points on a Coordinate Plane Math Yellow – Unit 12 Lesson 1 Quadrants in a Coordinate Plane – Unit 12 Lesson 2 Ordered Pairs
