The brain is a vital part of our body for these reasons:  A brain controls body temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and breathing.  The brain accepts information about the world around you and various senses like seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting.  It handles physical motion when walking, talking, standing or sitting  It lets you think, dream, reason and experience emotions.

Some people think that it is possible to live without a brain. I am not sure about that but if we could live without a brain we would have no mind, no memory, no feelings and no emotion. So without those things life would be really boring.

To have a nice and healthy brain we need to:  Eat a lot of fish  Any source of omega-3 fats such as walnuts or leafy green vegetables keeps the brain healthy.  Make sure you exercise (its vital for a healthy brain)  Don’t drink much alcohol  Don’t take illicit drugs  NEVER SMOKE!

 The weight of an average human brain is 3 lbs  The brain’s gray matter is made up of neurons, which gather and transmit signals.  There are no pain receptors in the brain, so the brain can feel no pain.  There are 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the brain.  The brain is the fattest organ in the human body

The brain is a pretty awesome so make sure you are always looking after your brain by not smoking, drink alcohol or taking illicit drugs because you are hearting your brain. Thank you for watching my power point presentation. By Tom Ahearn 5/6 B
