He was 61! **She challenged the prejudice of male artists. **She painted flowers when she got married and deserts and bones when her husband suffered a heart attack.

9. Georgia O’Keefe’s Movement Georgia O’Keefe is a realist American Painter. She depicts things that are known to us. People can understand her paintings by looking at them. Her paintings are of flower blossoms and bones, so they are something we can relate to because we see them a lot in out lives.

10. Formal Schooling ~She studied art at Art Institute of Chicago ~and at the Art Student’s League in New York City. ~She attended art classes conducted by Arthur Wesley Dow at Columbia University

11. Inspiration She began painting as a child because she said it was the one thing she could do that was nobody else’s business. She was painting representational art at the time. But later on in life she was exposed to more European art and was inspired by the abstract work. She painted flower blossoms. When her husband suffered a heart attack she took a different route and began painting desert scenes and bone paintings.
