Richlands Primary School

Welcome to Our Class!!! This year is going to be a new adventure for you and your child! We will be going on field trips and attending school assemblies. There will be surprises when least expected. This is the joy of being in this Kindergarten class!

Visitors & Volunteers Please sign in at the front office and get a sticker that states if you are a visitor. This is for the safety of your children, this is the school’s way of knowing who is on campus!

School Hours School begins promptly at 7:40a.m. Students arriving after the 8:00 bell are considered tardy and need to be checked into the office by a parent. **Students should not arrive before 7:30. Adult supervision is not available before that time. If your child arrives between 7:30 and 7:40, please have them wait in the cafeteria for dismissal to their classrooms.

Breakfast If your child wishes to eat breakfast at school, please make sure they do so before checking in with us! Breakfast is served beginning at 7:30. Breakfast for Kindergarten students is free.

Morning Routine You may bring your child in the first day to walk him/her through the morning routine. 1st Job- Check in with Mrs. Hewitt to make lunch choice. 2nd Job- Put your folder in the folder box. 3rd Job- Find your cubby and unpack your book bag. 4th Job-Find your seat and begin morning work. After the first day, we ask that you drop your child off at the door to foster their independence.

Nightly Routine Every night your child will bring home their red homework folder used to transport papers that must be sent home daily. Please have your child place homework assignments inside the folder to protect it on its journey back to school. Also, if you need to send money or notes, please use the zippered pouch in the front pocket. In the back pocket of this folder you will find the homework sheet. Please send this folder back every day!

Discipline Policy We use a color-coded card system. Students have individual pockets with 5 colored cards. All students begin on green each day. If rules are broken, a they will flip through the cards in the following order: green, blue, yellow, orange, and red. There are consequences for behavior and a daily report will be sent home. Students can earn smiley faces for their pockets throughout the day no matter the color they are on.

Video & Picture Release Form
This is provided to obtain written permission to videotape and or photograph your child.

Letter Studies Through the studies of ABC’s, we may ask students to bring in an object that begins with that letter. You may want to assist them in the beginning, and later allow them to make their own choices. Incorrect responses will be discussed and investigated, not shunned.

Bus and Pickups For the first two weeks of school, your child will have a tag attached to his/her backpack to identify if they are bus riders or pickup. Please do not remove the tag.

NOTE: Early checkouts equal a tardy
Picking up your child Please pick him/her up by 2:50 in the cafeteria. If you need to check your child out, please do so by 2:15, otherwise you will be requested to wait until 2:50 in the cafeteria. NOTE: Early checkouts equal a tardy
