1 SECTION A – SOURCES!!!! It’s not as hard as you think, as long as you remember HOW to answer the questions! Using the techniques for each question will help you to include everything you need to.

2 Qa) What does Source A show you about about…?
2 marks 2 POINTS = 2 MARKS! Make 2 points about what the source tells you, and ONLY 2 points (you won’t have time for more)

3 CONTENT + O.K. (own knowledge)
Qb) Use Source B and your own knowledge to explain why…? 4 marks CONTENT + O.K. (own knowledge) What does the content tell you about why…? How can you expand on this from your own knowledge

4 Qc) How far does Source C support the view that…?
5 marks SOURCE + O.K. + JUDGEMENT What does the source tell you that agrees/disagrees with the view? – Don’t just look at the content! How can you expand on this from your own knowledge? Make a judgement on how far the source supports the view i.e. The source fully/partially supports the view, There is a great deal of support…

5 Qd) How useful is Source D to an historian studying…?
6 marks C.O.P. (+and-) CONTENT – What information is given by the source? What information is missing? ORIGIN – Who made the source? When? Where? PURPOSE – Why was this source made? What type of source is it? Remember to explain what makes the source useful AND what limits its usefulness.

6 Qd) Why do Sources E and F have different views about…?
8 marks HOW + WHY HOW are they different? - What is different about the information they give? WHY are they different? - When were they made? Where were they made? Who made them? Tip – Is one a secondary source?
