Name:

 Russian Accent Russian Accent  Follow on the next slides to work on this!

 At :50 in the movie the L sound is talked about  Say the word pull.  Feel where that “l” ends. In the top of the hard palette. That is where all “l” sounds end. Always. So say pull 3 times!  Now say lemon. But place the tounge where you would in the word pull.  Now say little, same thing with the tounge.  Work on the saying these words with that L sound.

 Pull (Between each word say pull to remind yourself where the tongue needs to be.)  Little  Lemon  Lovely  Apple  Like  World  Halloween

 At 1:13 in the movie the “V” and “W” sound are talked about.  V’s and W’s sound the same. It is a blend of the word.  Say normally, “what is wrong with Russian water.”  Now say “vwat is vrong vith Russian vwater.” say 3 times.  Remember it’s a blend of the two.

 At 1:39 in the movie the “Z” and “S” replaces “th” sound are talked about.  Say this.  Say zis.  Say the.  Say za.  Say that.  Say zat.  Say this is the last one I’ve done.  Say ziz zis za last (remember the tongue with the l) one I’ve done.

 At 1:56 the movie talks about slowing down your voice to over pronounce the words.  Try stretching out the syllables. Make it slower. Mono-tone if even.  Say brother.  Say bro-ther. (remember the z sound for the th)  Say bro-ther again. Slower.

 This morning a bird woke me up. It was a lark, or a peacock; something like that. So I said hello. And it vanished, flew away, the very moment I said hello! It was quite mysterious. So do you know what I did? I went to my mirror and brushed my hair two hundred times, without stopping. And as i was brushing it, my hair turned mauve. No, honestly! Mauve! Then red. then some sort of a deep blue when the sun hit it.... I'm twelve years old, and every day something happens to me. i don't know what to make of it. When i get up in the morning and get dressed, I can tell...something's different. I like to touch my eyelids, because they're never quite the same. oh, oh, oh! I hug myself till my arms turn blue, then I close my eyes and cry and cry till the tears come down and I can taste them. I love to taste my tears. I am special. I am special! Please god, please, don't let me be normal!
