3
What is CE Marking? Required by European & UK law. Construction Products Regulations. It is facilitated through EN 14351. It is a declaration, made by the manufacturer, that the product meets all the legal requirements of that market place. It is not a quality mark.
4
When will it happen? All doors and windows placed on the market after 1 st July 2013 must be CE Marked. There isn’t a honeymoon period. The date will not be extended. If your products are not CE Marked and you are reported, you will be investigated by Trading Standards.
5
Will it affect me? YES. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to CE Mark all doors and windows. The manufacturer is the person or organisation that puts the glass and frame together.
6
What do I need to do? (1) An FPC (Factory Production Control) system must be in place within your organisation. (See BS EN 14351) You must have a method for applying the CE Mark to every product. You must have a DoP (Declaration of Performance).
7
What do I need to do? (2) You must have a Statement on Dangerous Substances. You must have Handling, Installation, Maintenance and Care Guides. You must have relevant technical data including test results approved by a Notified Body.
8
What do I need to do? (3) You must CE Mark against :- Thermal Transmittance (U-value). Load Bearing Capacity of Safety Devices (Child restrictors). Ability to Release (Fire escape doors). Height of doors.
9
What do I need to do? (4) You can also CE Mark against :- Air permeability Water tightness Wind resistance Acoustic performance Radiation properties NPD (No Performance Determined).
10

12
How can Network VEKA help? (3) Remember: It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that all aspects of the CE Marking process are up to date, correct and appropriate and that every product is CE Marked. You must speak to your gearing and glass suppliers etc. to obtain their DoPs and underpinning data.
