2 Accreditation Institutional level – Higher Learning Commission (AQIP – Academic Quality Improvement Program) – Iowa Department of Education Program level – Many programs are accredited, including: Nursing (Iowa Board of Nursing) Automotive Technology (National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence ) Concurrent Enrollment (National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships) – (have applied) EMS (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education)

3 Iowa Department of Education Comprehensive visit (every 10 years) Interim visits (every 5 years) Last comprehensive visit April, 2010 Next visits: 2016 (interim) 2021 (comprehensive)

4 AQIP Academic Quality Improvement Program Accepted in 2006 Cabinet has oversight Ongoing continuous improvement as demonstrated by cyclical activities

5 AQIP, cont. Annually: Update progress on action projects Every 4 years: 100 page Systems Portfolio – Submitted first one June, 2009, received feedback in September, 2009 Feedback report: no major issues, just “opportunities for improvement” Will be addressing these issues – Next one due 2013 Every 7 years: Quality Checkup visit & Reaffirmation (2014)

6 Action Projects Improvement projects demonstrating continuous improvement – data driven 3 required at all times Annual updates to the HLC Current projects: – Academic rigor – IT disaster recovery – Assessment of student learning

7 Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) Ongoing employee training in continuous improvement and systems Team tackles an issue or question using CPI tools – Define & analyze the process (data driven) – Develop improvement plan – Implement and study the results
