2 What is soil? Soil is a variety of things. It is a home for plants. A home for some creatures and animals.

3 How is soil formed? Soil is formed after a long period of time. Some layers are made up of organic materials. Some layers are made up of inorganic materials. Some layers are made up of mostly rock. Some are a mix of everything.

4 Why should we study soil? We should study soil because, it’s important to know what …. it’s made of What lives in soil How it’s made How it can help the environment and us.

5 What is a soil profile? A soil profile is a drawing or a visual aid where you can see the layers of soil and where there at.

6 How is each layer of the soil profile formed? After thousands of years rocks break down Then living things die Things that were never alive mix with rocks and once living things and living things.

7 Which layer of soil contains the most organic material? The top layer of soil contains the most organic material.

8 What is a Soil Scientist and what task do they perform? Soil Scientist are scientists who are qualified to do soil related things. Soil Scientists conduct experiments with soil.
