1 EPSA European Association of Hospital Pharmacists Quality of care, quality of life Results of the ESMO Medical Oncology Status in Europe Survey will help to identify the improvements necessary to reduce the disparities in the quality of cancer care across Europe and show the need to recognise medical oncology as a specialty within the multidisciplinary team of cancer care. HIV/AIDS Surveillance in Europe Surveillance report There are an estimated 740 000 people living with HIV or AIDS in western and central Europe today, and 1.7 million in the neighbouring countries of eastern Europe and Central Asia [1]. The proportion of undiagnosed HIV infections is estimated to be as high as 30% in the European Union (EU), and likely to be higher in neighbouring countries. People who have not yet been diagnosed are unaware that they are infected, and therefore cannot benefit from treatment and care, and may unknowingly transmit HIV to others. Access full article. McKinseyQuarterly Why drugs fall short in large -stage trials The third and last stage of clinical testing is meant to confirm that medications under development are safe and effective.
