1 WHO AM I? I CORINTHIANS 6:19-20

2 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19-20 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

3 Our text helps us understand
Introduction We often identify ourselves by our occupation – doctor, lawyer, teacher, farmer, preacher, engineer, carpenter, etc. The Bible helps us understand: Who we are Where we came from Our purpose in life Our text helps us understand

4 1 – I am God’s God created me – Genesis 1:  Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

5 1 – I am God’s God created me God OWNS me I am part of His family

6 1 – I am God’s 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

7 2 – I am Me I HAVE UNIQUE DNA
Matthew 10:  Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

8 2 – I am Me EVERY PERSON HAS AN INDIVIDUAL STORY TO TELL
Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

9 2 – I am Me EVERYONNE MUST BEAR THEIR OWN BURDENS (RESPONSIBILITIES)
Galatians 6:5 For each one shall bear his own load. My obedience to God is up to me.

10 2 – I am Me JUDGMENT WILL BE INDIVIDUAL
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.

11 3 – I am Yours Early Christians shared all they had with each other
Acts 4:32 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. Romans 12:5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

12 4 – I am a Servant Matthew 20:  Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. 27 And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave-- 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

13 4 – I am a Servant 2 Timothy 4:5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. Minister, deacon, servant, serve, slave, ministry – All are from the same root word! While “deacon” is an office in the church, the word also has a broad application for ALL of us.

14 4 – I am a Servant Romans 16:1-2 1 I commend to you Phoebe our sister, who is a servant of the church in Cenchrea, 2 that you may receive her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints, and assist her in whatever business she has need of you; for indeed she has been a helper of many and of myself also.

15 5 – I am Important to God John 3:  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

16 5 – I am Important to God 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Matthew 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

17 5 – I am Important to God Romans 5:6-8 6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
