3 How did it start? Ionia: 520 B.C.E.-Persians conquered the area.
Ionian Greeks revolted and Athens aided them Darius (Persian King) defeated the rebels and vowed to destroy Athens.

4 Battle of Marathon 490 B.C.E.-Persian fleet brought 25,000 men to Marathon. 10,000 Athenians awaited Athenians charged the Persians and won.
