12 12 I/O E XTENDER C ONFIGURATION  Configuration is performed using the IO_Config utility  For each modem the utility is used to configure both the RF and I/O modules  RF module configuration  Can use all radio features (P2P, P2MP, repeaters...)  Alternatively could be configured using HyperTerminal  I/O module (PIC) configuration  Defines number of remotes in master  Assigns the remote number (address)  Sets I/O module baud rate (must match to radio baud rate)  Maps (assigns) analog points for each remote  Alternatively could be configured using HyperTerminal  NOTE: On older products with internal jumpers, remove the I/O terminal blocks or I/O power before configuring

17 17 ERRATA  Cycle power after configuration to reset the modem. This is not required for new version products with configuration switches but is good practice.  In the event of power brownout the I/O module may get “lost”. Cycling power (remove I/O power too) will reset the modem. New version products with configuration switches are designed to prevent this.  Very early model I/O extenders cannot be field configured.
