Home Aid Orange County HomeAid is the charitable arm of the BIA, founded in 1989 by the Orange County chapter, as a way for the industry to give back to the community. HomeAid has expanded throughout the United States to 22 chapters in 16 states. Building Industry Technology Academy BITA is a comprehensive four-year program started in 2002 with the intent to develop a construction program aimed at producing skilled professionals that will be qualified to enter the home-building workforce. BITA is a comprehensive four-year program started in 2002 with the intent to develop a construction program aimed at producing skilled professionals that will be qualified to enter the home-building workforce. Currently in place at 8 So Cal High Schools (Including 4 in Anaheim): Currently in place at 8 So Cal High Schools (Including 4 in Anaheim): –Brea Olinda, Katella, Anaheim, Western, Valencia,Trident, Magnolia, Los Alamitos 4,860 students have gone through the program since 2002. 4,860 students have gone through the program since 2002. BITA provides hands on experience while promoting awareness of the diverse career paths available within in the construction industry to students. Students develop the necessary skills, training, knowledge, and contacts with industry professionals to pursue careers within the construction industry. Home Builders Council Home Builders Council has given out more than $200,000 worth of scholarships and grants to students and working professionals. In addition, HBC has provided grants to schools with construction technology classes and supported field trips. For 20 years the HBC Design Build Competition has challenged local high schools, regional occupational programs and community colleges to take part in a 2 day design competition at the OC Fair Grounds. Teams of 15 students are challenged to build a 6 ’x 8’ playhouse structure. Teams are judged on their speed, safety, and quality of work. Dale & Bea Stuard Scholarship Fund Dale Stuard, former president of BIA/OC and his wife, Bea, started this fund to encourage students to select homebuilding and related fields as their life’s work.
