© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District Indoor Highlights Toilets –MaP standards – 350 gm per flush minimum –Includes 1.6 gallons per flush (gpf) @ 350 gm for ONE flush Performance reduced consumption –High-efficiency toilets (1.28 gpf) –Dual flush (1.2 gpf average) Water-efficient dishwashers – 6.5 gpl or less Water-efficient clothes washers – 6 gallons per cubic foot or less Leak and rupture protection devices

© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District High Efficiency Toilets 1 to 1.28 gpf Dual flush – Full 1.6 gpf and half 0.8 gpf Re-engineered technology –Larger 3-inch valves for greater water pressure –New flapper materials that dont corrode –Leaking will not occur in 3–5 years

© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District Leak and Rupture Protection Devices Valve closes when abnormal flow is detected Installed on pressurized hoses –Dishwasher –Refrigerator –Washing machine Protects from water damage if pressurized hose breaks – especially valuable when no one is home

© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District Outdoor Benefits Florida Water Star SM landscapes Provide attractive Florida landscapes Reduce turf area Reduce outdoor water use Provide greater privacy to home sites

© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District Turf areas shall not exceed 60 percent if site conditions require regular irrigation after establishment

© 2004 St. Johns River Water Management District Right Plant, Right Place Select plants appropriate to the site Sun or shade requirements Mature size Soil needs Water needs Salt and cold tolerance pH tolerance
