Surveys and periodic analysis of job offerings in the print media and on the internet suggest that demand in different fields for competent, skilled and experienced project management professionals is strong and will remain so in the foreseeable future. Dozens of project management associations have been estab- lished at the national level, mainly in Europe, North America, and Asia. A few transnational associations have also been established. Collectively, project management associations comprise hun- dreds of thousands of project management professionals with overall membership growing at an exponential rate. Project management associations have contributed immensely to popularizing project management and helping improve the way in which projects are being initiated, planned and imple- mented around our world.

Most of the publications on project management are in English, but there is a growing body of publications in other languages. Much of the published material on project management can be downloaded from the internet free of cost or commercially. A number of project and project management research centres, institutes, associations and consulting firms around the world sponsor and publish research on project management themes.
