#5: V7: MERCY 7 μακάριοι ο ἱ ἐ λεήμονες, ὅ τι α ὐ το ὶ ἐ λεηθήσονται. Happy are the merciful because they will be mercied.
4
Grace Orientation 1.The word “merciful” is ejlehvmwn, which means, “pertaining to being concerned about people in their need, merciful, sympathetic, compassionate…” 2.This compassion is a characteristic of God throughout the Bible. 3.There is no greater way man shows God’s character than in being gracious to others. 4.Rulership in the Kingdom will be by our God who is Gracious and merciful; therefore Grace and Mercy are paramount character qualities for the co-ruler. 5.The theme of being held accountable for our treatment of others on the basis of Grace runs throughout the Word of God. Ex 34:1-9, Mt 7:1-2, Mt 18:21-35

#6: V8: PURITY 8 μακάριοι ο ἱ καθαρο ὶ τ ῇ καρδί ᾳ, ὅ τι α ὐ το ὶ τ ὸ ν θε ὸ ν ὄ ψονται. Happy are the clean of heart because they will see God.
6
Clean of Heart 1.Fellowship with God is a matter of righteousness. 2.In every case a man loses fellowship with God because of unrighteousness. 3.This major theme of Bible Doctrine is intensified in the Church Age because we have the Holy Spirit indwelling us to fill, lead, teach, encourage, bear witness, etc. 4.The key to entrance into the Kingdom is the cleansing of the Cross positionally. The key to inheritance of the Kingdom is a consistent experience of that righteousness in thought, word, and deed.

Mercy and Purity Rulership Resolution Happy are the merciful because they will be mercied. Happy are the clean of heart because they will see God.

#7: v9: PEACEMAKERS 9 μακάριοι ο ἱ ε ἰ ρηνοποιοί, ὅ τι α ὐ το ὶ υ ἱ ο ὶ θεο ῦ κληθήσονται. Happy are those who make peace because they will be called sons of God.
9
Making Peace 1.Here is the second most misunderstood of the beatitudes. 2.A “Meek” person is not a doormat, and a “peacemaker” does not surrender to unrighteousness. 3.The interpretation of v9 depends upon the phrase “sons of God.” 4.The son is the representation of his father. 5.In what sense is God a peacemaker?
10
6.God is not for “peace at any price” or without “preconditions.” Prov 3:34, 1 Pet 5:5, James 4:6. 7.He is LORD of the Armies, YHWH Sabaoth. 8.Peace means wholeness or integrity and therefore the resolution of conflict. 9.The great conflict in the history of creation is the sin of the creature in opposition to the righteousness of God. 10.God does not leave this conflict to sit on the sidelines, and He does not “lay down” His weapons for “peace.” 11.He goes to war against sin and sacrifices everything to win peace. 12.The war of creature arrogance against Creator righteousness was won at the Cross.
11
How Can I Make Peace? 1.God uses people in His work of peacemaking. 2.Our role is not to be the sacrifice for sins but to communicate Jesus’ sacrifice—sometimes by our example. 3.When a human being accepts the Gospel, he is immediately reconciled to God and so at peace. 4.Therefore we have a role in bringing peace to history’s greatest conflict—evangelism. 5.Nothing you can say in life will bring more strife and persecution to you than the Gospel of peace that Jesus is the ONLY WAY. 6.The message of the King’s ambassador is called the Gospel of Peace: Eph 6:15, cp Is 52:7, Nah 1:15, Rom 10:15
12
Dynamics of Peacemaking
13
Is 52:7-10 7 How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, Who causes others to hear peace Who brings good news of happiness, Who causes others to hear salvation Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” 8 Voices your watchmen lift up Voices together they are constantly ringing out; For they will see with their own eyes When the Lord restores Zion.
14
9 Break forth, ring out in shouting together, You waste places of Jerusalem; For the Lord has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The Lord has bared His holy arm In the sight of all the nations, That all the ends of the earth may see The salvation of our God.
15
Happy are those who have been persecuted on account of righteousness because belonging to them is the Kingdom of Heaven.
16
Happiness in Adversity 1.The first certainty about new life in Christ is that He will sustain you in His faithfulness. 2.The second certainty is that as you grow in righteousness and serve Him you will suffer for it at the world’s hands. 3.The third certainty is that if you disobey you will be disciplined as a child of God. 4.Therefore we cannot assess spirituality based on someone’s suffering. 5.But you know when you are submissive to your Father and desiring His glory. 6.And if you will not look at yourself through the light of Scripture, He will let you know when you are rebelling against Him in prideful self-advancement.
17
Peace and Persecution Happy are the merciful because they will be mercied. Happy are the clean of heart because they will see God. Happy are those who make peace because they will be called sons of God. Happy are those who have been persecuted on account of righteousness because belonging to them is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Rejoice and leap for joy because your reward is great in heaven, for in this way they persecuted the prophets before you.
