Sunday Streets in San Francisco Sunday Streets creates a safe, fun, car-free place for people to get out and get active in San Francisco neighborhoods. The inaugural Sunday Streets events in 2008 drew more than 15,000 participants, and since then each event attracts between 10,000 and 25,000 attendees. 2011 marks our fourth season in San Francisco, over 3 successful seasons and 17 events to date. Creating Fun and Community Whats New in 2011 Sunday Streets continues to evolve to meet the needs of community stakeholders, participants, program partners and sponsors. Changes and improvements include: New hours, starting and ending later: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. Revised routes that create more contiguous pathways across and between San Francisco neighborhoods. Improved sponsor booth locations along or adjacent to major streets on the route, bringing increased opportunity to engage with participants. Sponsors input on preferred location will help ensure ideal sponsor placement at each event. Greater local participation and leadership to create diverse, locally produced activities that showcase each community included on Sunday Streets routes. 3 This is a great program on so many levels. Kids get some exercise. Families get a fun activity they can do together. Residents are encouraged to explore other parts of the city. Local businesses get a boost in customers. Cost to the city is minimal. Thank you for starting this program and expanding it every year.- Sunday Streets 2010 Participant Sunday Streets 2011 Season March 20: Embarcadero April 10: Great Highway May 8: Mission June 12: Bayview July 10: Great Highway August 14: Civic Center/Tenderloin September 11: Western Addition October 23: Mission

San Francisco Sunday Streets! San Franciscos Sunday Streets program has emerged as a national model, with innovative activities and events that represent the citys colorful neighborhoods and unique character. Activities like skate dancing to Michael Jacksons Thriller, to the Human Iditarod tire pull, riding a bicycle built for seven, pedal powered music stages and carnival rides, Sunday Streets has become a new San Francisco tradition with a style that exemplifies the Citys offbeat, creative culture. Sunday Streets is presented by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and Livable City, with leadership support from the San Francisco Mayors Office and numerous City Departments. City Partners include: San Francisco Recreation and Park Shape Up SF Department of Public Works San Francisco Police Department Mayors Offices of Economic Development, Neighborhood Services Department of the Environment Port of San Francisco 4

Sunday Streets Audience Active Adults: The opportunity for safe, free recreation draws thousands of adults to Sunday Streets events. Bay Area Families: Upwards of 25,000 participants came out to play at Sunday Streets, with a majority of them family members with children. Community Leaders: In the first three seasons, more than 400 neighborhood, non- profit, business leaders have participated in Sunday Streets programs and activities. Culturally Diverse Populations: Outreach materials are developed in a variety of languages – Chinese, English, Spanish and Russian– to effectively reach Bay Area residents in culturally diverse communities. Local Businesses: Sunday Streets has received overwhelming support from local businesses and merchant associations, the increased foot and bike traffic has helped bring business to shops and restaurants along each route. Underserved Communities: Sunday Streets routes connect communities that often lack open space and opportunities to places for people to bike, walk, socialize and play safely. 5

Thank you for supporting Sunday Streets The phenomenal success of San Franciscos Sunday Streets program is due, in large part, to our many financial sponsors. These events offer a unique opportunity to reach tens of thousands of Bay Area residents and visitors in association Sunday Streets. Sponsorship benefits include: Access to a broad cross-section of Bay Area residents, visitors and Sunday Streets supporters; Opportunities to build name recognition through association with Sunday Streets through on-site participation and our marketing campaign; Creating goodwill among the thousands of participants, and Prominent recognition for your support in making this innovative, healthy, family-oriented event happen. The overwhelming popularity of Ciclovía -style events has created a national movement, and San Francisco is proud to be one of the first to recognize the benefits of offering this program. Sunday Streets is fiscally sponsored by Livable City, a San Francisco based non-profit organization. All contributions to Sunday Streets are tax-deductable. If keeping families in San Francisco is one of our goals, these kind of events are the way to do it. There were so many families out there. Well done Mayor Newsom and all the city staff and volunteers who made this happen. Thanks to all the corporate sponsors who helped pay for the cops and ensure this event didn't cost the city taxpayers a dime. –Sunday Streets Participant 6

Sunday Streets Sponsors are prominently recognized leading up to and during each event and enjoy year long exposure through Sunday Streets outreach.
