3 Your Contract Benefits You are the backbone of our district. You work very hard to teach each and every child who enters your class. Since 1977, GEA has represented you to improve teaching and learning conditions, salary, and benefits.

5 Bereavement Leave First, let us extend our condolences for your loss. 6 Discretionary Leave Full-time employees entitled to 3 each year –Accumulate up to 5 DL each year (40 hours) –Additional DL will revert to Sick Leave Part-time employees 50%-99% will have pro-rated leave Emergency Use (pipes break???) –Apply for DL within two days of returning to work Restrictions: –5 days prior written notice –Maximum of 10% of a building absent on one day –DL granted based on the order in which received in principals office –Employees working less than 50% have no leave More information- Article VIII; Section E

9 Sick Leave Bank Employees are automatically members of the Sick Leave Bank (SLB), unless they opt out. –May opt out/in the first 10 days of each contract year –When SLB drops below 300 hours, all members will be assessed 1 day To use Sick Leave Bank: –All of your own leave must be exhausted –5 days must be contributed to current condition –Fill out the forms submit by the 15 th of each month (apply additional months for extended conditions) –(except Dec- forms due by the first Friday in December) Submit to GEA (1116 13 th Street- fax 970-353-4199) –Doctors note should indicate a RELEASE to Work date –The SLB Committee will determine eligibility. –Maximum of 70 days available each year –ONLY for employees condition- not family Form available: www.greeleyea.org- forms/documentswww.greeleyea.org- FYI: –You return from your leave with O days for leave –Next contract year, you will donate 1 day to SLB –Donated days could be available –Must be a member of the Sick Leave Bank More information- Article VII; Letter M

11 Insurance Benefits Health, Dental, Life Health/Dental: Full-time employees District pays full premium for each contracted employee Part-time (more than 50%) employees will contribute to premium Benefits are negotiated annually with the carrier Open enrollment to change status occurs in June of each year. FLEX Benefit Plan (Article IX) The District allows for teachers to insure spouse/dependents Life: Insured for 2Xs annual salary up to $150,000 After retirement, benefit is $5,000 to beneficiary For information, contact Benefits: 348-6xxx

15 Mo Money Banking hours: –While working on your Masters, if you take District courses that do NOT apply to your degree, then you can save 6 to 12 hours, depending on your current placement.
