2 What is a Coincidental Penalty? Penalties of equal duration (i.e. Minor/Bench Minor Penalties) are imposed against players on each team during the same stoppage of play Immediate substitutions shall be made for players who are assessed penalties that are considered coincidental

3 Procedure for Canceling Coincidental Penalties Start by canceling major penalties, then cancel minors In Order of Priority 1) M – Cancel as any penalties as possible 2) O – Cancel in a way to make the team only ne player short 3) T – Cancel in a way to avoid aking another player off the ice 4) O – Cancel using the order of penalty ccurrence or the order that the penalties were reported by the referee M O T O

5 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB2 The penalties cancel each other out; teams play at full strength

6 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 22 Team A is 1 player short for 2 minutes. Another player from ice will serve the time penalty.

7 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 22 + 2 The penalties cancel each other out; teams play at full strength

8 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 22 2 The penalties cancel each other out; teams play at full strength

9 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 5 + GM Teams play 4 on 4. Another player from the ice will serve the major penalty.

10 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 5 + GM Team B full strength. Another player from the ice will serve the major penalty.

11 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play A B 5 + GM + 2 2 Cancel minor penalties; Team A plays shorthanded for five minutes

12 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play A B 5 + GM + 2 Cancel major penalties first, then minors. Penalties cancel each other out; both teams play full strength.

13 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB2 5 + GM + 2 5 + GM Cancel major penalties first, then minors. Team A is shorthanded for two minutes

14 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB2 2 + 22 Cancel Team A Player 2 penalties, Team B penalties. Team A is shorthanded for two minutes.

15 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 5+GM+2 5+GM+2+2 5 + GM 5+GM+5+GM Team B will resume play 1 player short for 7 minutes. Another player from the ice will serve the time penalties.

16 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 222 2 Teams play 5 on 5. All penalties cancel each other out.

17 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2+2+10+GM 2 + 2 Cancel Minor penalties. Teams play 5 on 5.

18 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 22 Team A is short for 4 minutes.

19 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 5 + GM2 2 + 5 + GM + GM Team A is short two (2) players for 5 minutes

20 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 5 + GM + 2 5 + GM 5 + GM + GM + 2 5+GM+GM+2+2 2 Team A is short one player for 2 minutes.

21 Assume all penalties occur during the same stoppage of play ABAB 2 + 2 + 5 + GM 5 + 2 + 5 + GM 5 + GM + GM 5 + GM + GM 2 + 5 + GM + GM 2 + 5 Team A is short one player for 2 minutes and Team B is one player short for 5 minutes
