1 A Pulmonary Diet Plan Covert A Operation
An easy way to help patients eat well and live well with pulmonary disease

2 CPR Consistency Planning Responsibility
At St John’s Healthy Lifestyles, we have an acronym for CPR. It is consistency, planning and responsibility

3 Be Consistent with eating habits
Consistency Be Consistent with eating habits 5-6 smaller meals Nutrient Balance Co2 production Sodium control Portions/Calories Many seniors only eat 2 meals per day and many eat out too much for their disease state. If they want to be well while they live, they need to be encouraged to follow guidelines just like a person with celiac, diabetes, cancer or any other disease that requires dietary manipulation. I always tell my husband for 55 years he got to eat whatever he wanted and now he has to change if he wants to live well. Of course nutrient balance is important along with a decreased sodium intake. 77% of sodium intake comes from restaurants! And then there is the sugar, fat, salt addiction from our food supply. High added sugar in foods will increase CO2 production and it is hidden everywhere. 25 g to 27 g per day. Have them track it for fun.

4 Planning Plan food intake! Plan time! Plan money!
Planning is key. The opposite of planning is the rut (Corrie Ten Boom). Many say it is expensive to eat healthy. It is not. Planning is the key. We need to show them the short cuts and remind them to accept help. Studies show people do better when they accept help.

5 WE all know…. With Pulmonary Patients
