The 40/40 Club, a luxury sports lounge and nightclub owned by hip hop mogul Jay-Z and partner Juan Perez, opened its doors to the public in June Located at 6 West 25th Street in New York City, the 12,000 square foot space combines the lavish warmth of a New York City penthouse with the vivacity and glamour of court-side seats at a championship game.
“My passion for sports led me to create an environment that was not only conducive to my lifestyle but would appeal to every sports fan that walked through the door,” explained Jay-Z.
The 40/40 Club is named after one of baseball’s most prestigious achievements – players who have accumulated a total of 40 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a single season are inducted into the 40/40 club. Only four players in the history of baseball – José Canseco (1988), Barry Bonds (1996), Alex Rodriguez (1998) and Alfonso Soriano (2006) – can call The 40/40 Club home.
In June 2011, The 40/40 Club flagship location underwent over $10 million in renovations under renowned designer Jeffrey Beers. The multi-level space embraces an eloquent décor and style fitting of an exclusive revolutionary sports bar and lounge in the 21st century. Featuring a new grand entrance, an Armand de Brignac (“Ace of Spades”) Champagne Tower, custom illuminated amber resin bar top, supple leather upholstered wall paneling and enlarged marble stepped arena-style seating with plush lounge banquettes, the space reflects a sports luxury unlike any of its kind. In addition, the new design includes state of the art video and sound systems as well as giant LED television displays for the perfect game-watching experience. The five exclusive lounge rooms will feature lounge seating encircling the room, custom billiard tables, multiple large screen HD televisions, custom chandeliers, cerused oak paneling and stately oak wood floors.
The 40/40 Club is synonymous with a myriad selection of party packages and private red carpet celebrity-studded events. With a top of the line audio and visual system, guests can enjoy live music brought to you by well-known DJs and entertainers. The 40/40 Club offers lavish décor, VIP service, private rooms and full service bars yielding an exclusive experience to all of its guests.
Executive Chef Mike Shand has created a sophisticated dining menu with creative twists on fan favorite game-watching foods. Menu selections include 40/40 Nachos, Baja Tacos with southern fried chicken or catfish, jalapeno ranch, pico de gallo and guacamole, Mickey Fried Catfish or Chicken Sliders, Loaded Mini-Philly Cheese Steak Sliders and Braised Beef Short Ribs.
