No, I don’t as I lack all important leadership skills. I’m very weak at communication skills, so I can’t effectively convey ideas to other members. Also, I don’t wanna put myself under such great pressure.

If I felt disrespected, I would try to be a better listener, and ask team members for feedback about why they were not satisfied. Also, to earn more respect of team members, I would develop a better sense of responsibility.

12. Describe a female leader you would like to meet
I would like to describe the manager of my mother, who I think is a visionary female leader. She is the director of my mother’s company, who leads more than 2 hundred staff. Her main duties at work are keeping in contact with partners, assigning weekly tasks to her employees, including my mom, and evaluating the effectiveness of her own business. Via stories of my mom about her, I also know that she is a single mom of two little sons, or in other words, she is the sole breadwinner. Why do I want to meet her? Well firstly, because my mom always describes her like a princess, with fair skin and a brilliant smile, which makes me so curious about her appearance. Secondly, I really admire her leadership. As my mom said, she earns great respect and admiration of most staff in the company. Instead of using her right and power to force people to work overtime, she becomes a source of motivation for them to willingly make positive contributions to the company. Most importantly, I really want to learn more about her time management skills, how she can keep a work-life balance to take care of her sons. I think she is really an influential leader and I always wish to start my own business after graduation, so I really want to meet her in person to ask for advice and to motivate myself to be successful like her.

Answer
I agree with Felix. Leaders are under a lot of
pressure to make good decisions all the time.
I disagree with Felix. Leading others may be difficult at times, but leaders have a lot of power. I think it’s harder to follow a leader you don’t like than to actually be a leader.

What kinds of positive or negative qualities do they have? What do you think, Marcus?
Marcus: I think when some people are bad leaders, they feel that they are better than others, or that they don’t have to follow the rules the way other people do.
Teacher: What do you think, Yuna? What do you think is a good quality for a leader to have?
Yuna: I think people should be more responsible when they become leaders.
Teacher: You mean responsible for other people?
Yuna: Yes, they have to understand that their decisions affect a lot of people.
Teacher: How about you, Sophy? What do you think makes a good leader?

Sophy: Well, I agree with Yuna that a good leader understands the effects of their decisions on everyone, but it isn’t easy to make everyone happy. Bad leaders think that they should be making all of the decisions, or they don’t really need to consider how other people think or feel.
Teacher: Felix? What’s your opinion? We’ve heard that good leaders should have a strong sense of responsibility, but that reaching the best decision for everyone isn’t easy. What do you think?
Felix: Well, sometimes leaders are kind of isolated because everyone is looking to them to make the decisions, but at the same time everyone wants the decisions to go their own way. That’s a difficult position to be in. I would say that being a leader is very difficult in some ways, so you have to have a strong character.
