2 COURSE DESCRIPTION Forensic Science is a laboratory-based course in which students will apply prior knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics to the popular field of crime scene investigation. Students will use a structured and scientific approach to the investigation of different types of crime such as: accidental death, homicide, the psychology of criminal behavior, etc. Students will learn terminology and investigate procedures related to crime scene, questioning, interviewing, criminal behavior characteristics, and scientific procedures used to solve crimes. Using scientific methods, students will collect and analyze evidence through case studies and simulated crime scenes such as fingerprint analysis and blood splatter analysis.

4 GRADING *Formative Assessments include, but are not limited to homework, class work, some labs, quizzes, rough drafts, and sections of projects/research papers/presentations. *Summative Assessments include, but are not limited to unit tests, final projects, final essays, final research papers, and final presentations, and culminating labs. * Work Habits will also be evaluated every term based on the categories of Responsibility, Participation, Assignment Completion, & Interpersonal Skills 90-100I understand/ All work is handed in 80-90Mostly Understand/ Work is Mostly Complete 70-80Somewhat Understand/ Can Use some Effort 65-70Needs Improvement/ Work is Incomplete 0-65Need Help Understanding/ Work is incomplete/ Missing Numerous Assignments

The player must think carefully and decide what they would do when faced with this choice. **EXAMPLES** “Would you rather get a paper cut every time you turn a page or bite your tongue every time you eat?” “Would you rather be in a zombie apocalypse or an alien apocalypse?”
