2 What does safety and health in the workplace mean? Safety refers to the physical or environmental conditions of work that comply with prescribed Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and which allow the workers to perform the job without or within acceptable exposure limits to hazards. Occupational safety also refers to practices related to production and work processes. Operational Health and Safety procedures, practices, and regulations in the Philippines Republic Act No. 11058 The Occupational Safety and Health Standards was formulated in 1978 in compliance with the constitutional mandate to safeguard the worker’s social and economic well-being as well as physical safety and health.

3 We always have to be careful when working with any electrical and electronic devices. Occupational safety and health (OSH) is an organized operation to help prevent illness and injury. Safety policies: 1.Do not work alone to make sure that there is always someone who can take care of you if an emergency arises. It is best to stay safe as much as possible. Keep company around at all times. 2.Make sure to always turn the power off and unplug the computer. This will protect the computer from serious damage.

4 3.Take away any liquid near your working area to avoid getting electrocuted or accidentally damaging computer parts. Water and any liquid damage can often lead to extensive repairs or total parts replacement. 4.Be very careful around electrical tools. These tools can cause a short circuit. Short circuits may cause fire outbreaks. Be careful when handling a computer device or electrical component to avoid such a scene. 5.Always ground or discharge yourself before touching any parts of the computer. You can use an anti-static wrist trap or touch any metal parts to discharge. It is so that you do not get any electric shock. 6.Make sure not to use excessive force when handling a computer. If things do not slip into place, do not keep pressing. 7.Clean the area before and after using it to maintain sanitation and prevent accidents. A clean and sanitized workplace will help you focus on work as well.

5 8.Hold all the components on the edges and do not touch your device’s Integrated Circuit (IC) parts. 9.Always wear personal protective equipment (PPE) by the organization’s OHS procedures and practices. It will protect you against health and safety risks. 8.Make sure that the pins are correctly aligned in their places. It is to make sure when connecting a cable connector to your device. 9.Contingency measures during workplace accidents, fires, and other emergencies should be recognized. It also helps to make you stay alert. 10. Use the brush, blower, or compressed air when cleaning the computer system. Make sure to clean carefully to eliminate all the dust and particles.
