4 DEFINITION OF ART According to Tagore, “Art is the expression of the universal through the individual." According to Leonardo da Vinci “Art is the Queen of all sciences communicating knowledge to all the generations of the world.” According to T.S. Eliot “Art is the escape from personality.”

5 MEANING OF ART The expression or application of human skill and imagination, typically in a visual form of painting or sculpture. Art is producing work to be appreciated primarily for beauty or imagination. “What is art? Art is the response of man’s creative soul to the call of the real.” said Rabindranath Tagore.

6 MEANING OF AESTHETICS Aesthetic education is an approach to teaching and learning that engages students in learning about works of art through hands-on inquiry, questioning, writing, and art making. Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of art, beauty, and taste, with the creation and appreciation of beauty, scientifically defined as the study of sensory or sensoriemotional values, sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste.

7 MEANING AND CONCEPT OF ART EDUCATION Art Education is a primary pathway to learning, a journey of discovery of the meaning of teaching for aesthetic experience. Art is an expression of ideas created by human imagination, skill and invention. There is a saying “Music is what feelings sound like”. They are meant to rejoice special moments and emotions in our lives with our loved ones. They play an important role to add structure to our social lives, and connect us with our families and backgrounds.

22 CONCLUSION Art forms are both traditional /folk or classical Music, Dance, Theatre, Puppetry, Model Making, Pottery Drawing,Painting etc. Using art as a means of teaching will also help the child to appreciate folk art and also the rich Indian culture and traditions, bringing them closer to their roots.Learning through art helps develop a child’s creativity, opening up more professional avenues for later years.Ultimately, it lies in the teacher’s hands. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore has said “The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence.”
