Overview:-
In order to maintain well functioning group one should encourage group discussions and collaborative decision making.
The question is “Does this happen in every group”

meeting,classroom or informal group
but decide against it “why”?

well then you may be suffering
from the group.

3. Group Shift
Difination:- Group shift refers to a condition where the position of an in the group changes to adopt a more extreme position due to the influence of the group. Example:- Smoking : As a individual I am clear that I don’t want smoke. However when I am part of group who regularly smoke then to create a pressure on me. Sometimes they explains the benefits of the act and justified it by giving examples. Finally, I changed my decision and started smoking the process of continue.

4. Explanation
Most of the time there are difference between individual decisions making and group decisions.
Group shift is another version of group thinking.
As an individual our stand could be different for a certain place, people or thing but group can push us to change our stand.
The decision of the group shows dominate decision-making norm that is developed during the group’s discussion.

5. IN A NUTSHELL
A low risky group make a high risk individuals conservative
in their approach.
While a high risk group make an individuals aggressive in
their approach.

6. Difference B/W Group Thinking & Group Shift
Groupthink refers to a psychological phenomenon in which members of a group make decisions based on pressure that they get from group.
It is a disease that can effect any group and bring down the performance of the group.
Group shift refers to a condition where the position of an Individual in the group changes to adopt a more extreme position due to the influence of the group
Group can push us to change our stand.

7. DIFFERENCE Personal view becomes mush stronger due to group influence.
Similar to groupthink the group has an immense pressure on the individual.
Personal view can be put aside in favor of the popular view.
